October 2022 Update

Session Six in Full Swing

While God no doubt works mighty miracles in our midst, it’s often the smaller, quieter ones that go unnoticed. We’re conditioned to look for the big and the loud, but unless we train our focus and tune our ears we will miss countless miracles.

The miracle of an anxious soul being quieted and feeling peace. The miracle of a grief-laden heart being comforted. The miracle of a student speaking a first word. The miracle of feeling empowered and capable after mastering a hard-fought riding goal.

The list could go on and on, and unless you’re really paying attention these small miracles could easily go unnoticed in the hustle and bustle of our daily lives.

As the final session of therapeutic riding lessons in 2022 is currently underway, we can’t help but reflect on all of the small miracles. We’re filled with gratitude and pride as we witnessed first-hand the many accomplishments of each rider. Students are working hard this session to achieve their goals and, with the support of family, volunteers, staff, and the horses, they are making great progress.

Third Annual Halloween Shodeo at Renew

The third annual Halloween Shodeo was a fabulous day of celebrating our riders and all they have achieved. It was a day to put them in the spotlight and show them how proud we are of all of their hard work. Thank you to the volunteers who gave of their time, to the students and families that collected donations, to the businesses who sponsored our riders, and everyone who came to cheer on riders and trick or treat.

Christmas at Renew

The Christmas season is right around the corner and there are a few things we’d love to share before the busyness of the season begins.

Upcoming Events
Coming up on Friday, December 2, we would once again like to invite you to the farm for lots of festive fun.

The Christmas Open House from 5:30-6:30p is free and everyone is invited to come in out of the cold to enjoy the goodies and hot chocolate, pet the horses, and even help fill the horses’ stockings for Christmas.

Afterwards, from 7:00-8:30p, local artist Carolyn Stich will be teaching us how to paint a festive scene on canvas. Make sure to purchase your tickets as soon as possible to save you a seat and ensure that there are enough supplies.

Gift Giving
Do you have a horse lover in your life? Renew will be offering a few gift giving options that are sure to please!

Family & Friends for the Holidays – Renew is once again offering 45 minute riding lessons during the first week of January. If you would like to give the gift of a riding lesson, please contact Shaina Strikwerda (programs@renewtrc.org) for pricing and details.

Renew Merchandise – Contact Cassie Pelon (communications@renewtrc.org) if you would like to purchase a Renew t-shirt, hoodie, travel mug, or fleece blanket to give as a gift (or keep for yourself *wink*) this Christmas.

Renew Giving Tree – If you would like to include Renew in your gift giving this year, check out the Giving Tree that will be set up in the indoor arena towards the end of November. Take an ornament for ideas on items needed to support the mission. Any purchased items can be dropped off under the Giving Tree anytime before Christmas.
