Participants from Western Seminary participate in an equine assisted learning opportunity to grow as a team, improve communication, and learn.

June around the farm

June was a beautiful month filled with slightly different rhythms and a whole lot of learning and growth.

A group from Western Seminary came to the farm for a morning of equine assisted learning. They spent time with the horses doing various exercises and growing as a team, gaining insight about themselves and each other, and exploring new ideas.

Renew was also blessed to participate in OAISD’s futurePREP’d program. Fourth and fifth grade students learned about the mission and toured the property, and came up with creative solutions to help make the property and facilities as accessible as possible. They ideas, hard work, and enthusiasm were inspiring!

June also brought two opportunities to welcome veterans, military, first responders, and their families to the farm for Free Rein Friday events. Four Free Rein Fridays are scheduled this summer – two in June, one in July, and one in August. These casual, open house style events are an opportunity for Renew to pour into individuals and families who have given so much.  Come for one, or come for all – enjoy dinner, pet the horses, feed the fish, and more. Check the calendar for dates and times.

Participants affected by adoption or foster care took part in special Pony Pals camps. Participants enjoyed interactive vaulting and drill team camps. Young readers enjoyed the cool and quiet of the horse barn to build fluency while reading to their horse friends. The community came out to visit with the horses during the monthly Hug A Horse event. Mindfulness with Horses also took place, giving participants the chance to slow down and reconnect with what is lasting and most important. There were also visits from assisted and independent living centers, Silver Saddles lessons, and much more. What a full and beautiful month it was indeed!
